Convention

This tribe in particular is a noxious example of violations of the Human Genomics Convention.  Note the optics modifications, oxygen absorption rate, non-standard digit musculature and dermal matrix.  Not one of these features originates from the core, base mutation, or interplanetary mutation genotypes adopted by the convention in 2462.  Gene embargoes have been in strict force on this group for centuries.  The censure on this group has deprived them of a gene pool to bargain from, leading to their economic and political marginalization.  However, small groups can be found performing deep labor and non-automated transport duties on many outer settlements due to their ability to thrive in extreme conditions not typically tolerated by conventional humans.  In 2713, Schmiderhaegen submitted a proposal for a template with identical phenotypes grown entirely from certified human genes in a brilliant display of mutation recombination, showing the legal transgression was completely unnecessary if one only obtained proper permission to license certain heritage genes and employ a skilled geneticist.  To date, not one citizen has submitted the deposit for offspring license or personal modification to the Schmiderhaegen template, possibly in aversion to the social stigma and economic roll associated with the tribe.
