The sun, he only stole a glance
Underneath the sheets that once
But now he's gone to stay
Left us a breath-eating day
Away it twists into the air
See it rising everywhere
Smoothing out the gray
The trees are brooms of barren sticks
Ten thousand patient candlewicks
Waiting for something to ignite
Warmer wind or softer light
But will they find the blooms they've been
When the sunlight steals back in
Inviting them back from the night
I just want to be like you
Bird-warm, bright, and shiny new
No fear the world might separate
You from your summer sunshine fate
Or let cold reach your downy skin
I tell you sweetly it won't win
I'm lying, but it sure sounds great
Monday
